Shared Vision
Formation for Jesuit identity and mission in schools

Shared Vision is a programme of formation for teachers and support staff in the Jesuit schools of the British Province. It aims to communicate the Jesuit tradition of education and to encourage awareness and understanding of Jesuit identity and misson.

"Lay people need to have an understanding of Ignatian spirituality , of Jesuit educational history and traditions, and Jesuit life. The Jesuit school provides programmes to encourage a growing awareness and understanding of the aims of Jesuit education."
(The Characteristics of Jesuit Education
n.153)

There are four stages to the Shared Vision programme:

Shared Vision Induction (SVi) consists of five 75-minute sessions and is delivered in the schools to new teaching and support staff by trained presenters. Schools will generally deliver the first four sessions at the start of the school year and session five towards the end of the school year when new staff have some experience of living and working in a Jesuit school.

The five sessions of SVi are:

1. Catholic Education and Jesuit Schools
2. Meet Ignatius
3. Jesuit Mission in Education
4. Our School - A Jesuit School
5. The Spirit of Jesuit Education

Resources for SVi are available online and in hard copy from the Jesuit Institute.
