This online short formation course, rooted in the Ignatian spiritual tradition, is designed for for those involved in formation in the parish (catechists, parish assistants, youth leaders, deacons) to develop experience and grow confidence in:
• teaching and leading others in prayer
• encouraging spiritual sharing and conversation
• deepening understanding and practice of discernment
The focus will be on approaching catechesis as deepening our engagement with Jesus through the Word and living out of that deepened relationship in daily life. Each session will include input and teaching on ways of praying, reflective practices, spiritual listening and conversation and discernment. Alongside this, the sessions will include a time of guided prayer drawing on the gospel scriptures and offer opportunity for sharing and spiritual conversation with peers. In addition, towards the end of the course, participants will be invited to work together to create a one hour catechetical session with the focus of helping others deepen into their relationship with Jesus through praying with the Word. The invitation will be to deliver this session in your own context and to then reflect on your experience and learning with other course participants.
Time: Wednesday evenings, 6.30pm-8.30pm (BST)
Dates: May 28, June 4, 11, 18, 25, July 2, 16
