Steps

1

Read Matthew 26: 26-29 and build a picture in your mind’s eye of Jesus sitting with the disciples at the Last Supper.

‘Now as they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and when he had said the blessing he broke it and gave it to the disciples. ‘Take it and eat;’ he said ‘this is my body.’ Then he took a cup, and when he had returned thanks he gave it to them. ‘Drink all of you from this,’ he said ‘for this is my blood, the blood of the covenant, which is to be poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.’

2

Imagine sitting with these close friends in the presence of Jesus and how that felt.

3

Imagine the bread being broken and shared and the taste of the bread.

4

Imagine the wine being poured, the cup passed around and the taste of the wine.

5

Imagine how it felt to hear the words of Jesus, ‘this is my body … this is my blood.’

6

As you finish your prayer, speak to Jesus about what you saw, heard, felt, even tasted.  Ask for the grace to revere His presence in the Eucharist. Finish with a ‘Glory be’.

‘Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end, Amen.’
